Children's Counseling

Child psychotherapy is a valuable service we provide to help children and their families work through difficult issues in order to grow andthrive. Psychotherapy helps children who are experiencing difficulties with their emotions or behaviors, dealing with a psychiatric disorder, having a difficult transition at school or home, or who have experienced trauma. Trained specifically to do child clinical work, our psychotherapists know how to relate to children in a way that helps children to feel safe, understood, and comfortable to identify and express their feelings. We use a variety of methods, including both talk therapy and play therapy to help clients develop insight, self-knowledge, and coping skills. We also know the importance of family therapy and work to strengthen family relationships. We realize there is a need for a strong relationship between the child and the therapist, but we know the ultimate goal is an intimate relationship between the child and his or her parents. When necessary we also work with school personnel, pediatricians, and psychiatrists. We are committed to giving children the highest standard of care to help them to reach their full potential. Finally, we work to give parents the support and clarity they need to give their children the best environment possible.
